W400 from Singapore Antworten

I have posted this in W650 Technik Forum yesterday.

Hello, I am from Singapore and bought a W400 last week. I am planning to maintain the W400 by myself as there is not many W650/W400 in Singapore. I am looking for a Service Manual of W650 as most of the parts of W400 are exactly the same as the W650. I have downloaded the German version Service Manual but I could not understand it. Please help me if you have an English version W650 Service Manual.

Thank you.

Phang

Hello.I don't know well about service manual. So I searched with google.
W650 manual was 5196yen(japanese)
http://www.e-seed.co.jp/p/030309446/
W400 manual was 4547yen(japanese)
http://www.8109.tv/rak2/tsu_plsm_kaw.htm#SMKAWEXP

It's not common that pdf data of service manuals are online here.

So I also checked here but couldn't find manual of W650/400.
http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic....22b5e51a304ef41

I checked Kawasaki official page, and found minimum data of W400 here.

please use translation sites like this

You can search parts from here.

Sorry that I couldn't be helpful for pdf service manuals.

Good morning Kawashima-san,

Thank you for your effort in consolidating the information on the W650/W400. I guess I will buy a copy of English W650 service manual and also a copy of Japanese W400 service manual. I can read Kanji and Katakana so I can understand the technical words in the Japanese manual. I have found the shop selling original Kawasaki oil filter for my W400 and changed the engine oil and oil filter last night.

Oh great. That'll be the best way if you can read japanese!
I'm very glad to see the overseas owner of W400.
I haven't met with W400 owner in japan yet!
Hope you enjoy riding W400 in Singapore!
Please keep it clean(antirust).
p.s. Meisei-Kawasaki is good shop.

Yes, the shop owner of Meisei-Kawasaki is a great man, I have ordered a W650 center stand and a rear carrier from him. The items should be arriving soon.

Wow! Is there center stand for W400? W400 is lowered than W650 and I heard W650 center stand doesn't fit W400. Is it special lowered center stand made for W400 or modified W650 stand?
Due to lever ratio, they say W650 stand will be a little bit heavy to pull up when attached to W400.

It’s an original W650 center stand, not modify nor specially made. Nishimura-san told me in the email that W400 is 10mm lower than a W650. He suggested the W650 center stand only use for maintenance purposes on a W400 because his concern was the stand may hit the ground earlier than the foot peg feeler during cornering. I have ordered the complete center stand accessories, will try riding with the stand installed. If the stand causes any safety issue, I will remove it and keep it for maintenance use only.

Hello Kawashima-san,

I have installed the W650 center stand on my W400 a week ago. It was a direct bolt on installation but I spent almost an hour hooking up the spring. So far I have not scrape any part of the center stand yet. I will gradually increase the angle of the inclination during the bend and see which will hit the ground first, foot peg feeler or the center stand.

I am not sure the W650 center stand is too high for W400 but it took me a bit of effort to pull the bike when I put the bike on the center stand. I do not have a W650 for comparison at the moment but I would like to know the clearance between the ground and the rear tyre of a W650 on a center stand.

Hi Phang,

I don't know about the W400 frame, but it should be simular to the W650 frame. I removed the middle-stand a few years ago, because the mounting point was broken. I am still happy without the middle-stand and the only reason for using a middle-stand is greasing the chain or changing the tyres and this is not a big problem with the side-stand and a piece of timber to lift up the right side of the bike.

Greetings Friedo

Hi Friedo,

W400 uses the same frame as W650. You are right, the middle stand is not a must but more like a convinient item for maintenance and cleaning.

Hi Phang san, nice to hear that you finished attaching center stand.
I also think trying and checking little by little is nice idea.
I feel W650 center stand is much heavier than that of CB400SF.
W400 center stand will be heavier than W650!

Possible hit point(?) to ground of W650 when he lean it.(photo is my w650)

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b295/k...0hitpoint-2.jpg

Regarding W400,This comparison page is interesting.
http://kawaguchi.ftw.jp/u10707.html?9376

I forgot the difference of suspension between W400 and W650,so I tried
easy check.
Catalog data
-----------------seat----clearance
-----------------height--from ground
W650--------------800-----125
W650(lowseat pkg)-770-----125
W400--------------765-----125
W400(with stand)--765-----120(?)<- estimation of me.

I heard W400 and W650 lowseat package has same seat.

If the difference only by seat is 30mm(800-770), W400 would be 5mm more lowered
on frame level. On this assumption, W400 with center stand clearance will be
125mm->120mm with no loading(?) Just a estimation.
This number has no meaning which point hit the ground first when you lean the bike.
Please be careful at bumpy winding!
