Is there any difference between UK and other europe countries in emission regulation level? Does UK apply severer regulation than other europe countries?
Nein! I can't find W650 in Spain kawasaki either. [spain] http://www.kawasaki.es/category.asp?Id=FEBEA1DDF There was still W650 in it in August when I wrote 1st post. I couldn't find any message announcing about dropping W650 from lineup in homepages. Wow that's unfair dropping model without announcement.
At least there is an announcement about ZR-7 which says "Production of this model has finished" in red at the bottom in below HP. http://www.kawasaki-motors.com/model/zr-7s/
I've totally forgotten that there is a big rival "Bonneville" in UK as birthplace. Bonnie should be cheaper in UK than in Japan, that might be the reason...
The new regulation will be for all Europe, that's why I was wondering if other Europeans wistes knew something about the W disappearing We are still not sure but it seems it shouldn't survive in France too. Anyway it is going to be the end of carburator engines. The bonneville is quite more expensive than the W in Europe too. Wilfrid
Euro3 start from 2007 I heard. Ducati and Harley are Euro3 model from 2007models. While new regulation in Japan start from 2008(Sep). Yamaha XJR1300 changed to FI from 2007 model, so Yamaha can sell it in Europe this year. http://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/produ...?view=techspecs But W650 remained carbulator (and said to get FI from 2008 as a rumor level). So if I think optimistic, W650 may comeback to europe market from 2008model. Am I too optimistic???
I fear you are too optimistic and that there will be no renaissance of a possible FI-W650 model in Europe. If I remember correctly, in 2006 only approximately 3800 W’s were registered in Germany (an information Uli [Estrella] got from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – the German regulatory authority, for operating licences of motorvehicles, driving licences, vehicles registration statistics, etc.). I’ve no idea how many new Ws were sold last year in Europe, may be only a few tens in Germany - one of the biggest markets for motorcycles (except scooters) in the European Community. In the U.K. the model was officially available only by the end of 2005, in continental Europe until 2006 (except Spain, until 2005). I fear the time is over for antiquated looking motorcycles in Europe, and men of taste, like all of us W-drivers, are an endangered species.
Hello, I think Kawasaki is going put all its money on the Vulcan 500, which is on the Market in the US (2007). I don't think its in Europe yet (is it?) but I bet thats what they are planning.
Just an Idea. Tom ................................................... Today... is a great day to be Alive !

I didn't know about Vulcan 500 so I checked and found it. http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/detail.aspx?id=219 Looks like Cruiser model with GPZ500(EX500) engine. I hope they remain only as a entry model for USA...
