I 've removed the schnorchel from the airbox. The sound has changed somewhat and I 've got the feeling that W runs a bit better. But can I leave it like this or is something compromised now or wil break in the near future?

Just remove it and don´t worry.

I ve also drilled a few holes around the muffler (inbetween the outer ring of the exhaust and the muffler itself. Not only the w now breathes in more easily, it also breathes out a bit better. Without a lot of extra noise. Very content.
